The Quiet Power of a Morning Practice

A morning practice is not a performance. It is a small, private agreement with yourself: before the world asks anything of you, you will meet yourself first.

Start with five minutes. Sit somewhere warm and quiet. Feel the weight of your body on the chair. Notice three breaths without changing them. Then continue with your day. That is enough for the first week.

In the second week, add another five. Perhaps a short walk to the window, a cup of hot water, a page of writing. Notice which additions genuinely nourish you and which are performance. Keep the nourishing, let go of the rest.

By the sixth week, the practice will have shaped itself around you. It will not look like anyone else's, and it will be exactly right.
